azotobacterAzotobacter is free living non-symbiotic aerobic nitrogen fixing bacteria in rhizosphere zone of plants. It fixes atmospheric nitrogen by converting into the form of ammonia. Azotobacter produces a variety of growth promoting substances like IAA & GA, vitamin B and antifungal substances. Azotobacter culture fixes about 15-20kg atmospheric nitrogen per hectare. About 10 to 15% increase of crop yield can be achieved with the use of these cultures.
